meet our wonderful® family
You probably already know some of our other healthy brands, like Wonderful® Pistachios, Wonderful® Almonds, Wonderful® Sweet Scarletts® and POM Wonderful®. In fact, families like yours have made Wonderful the fastest-growing brand in America’s produce aisles.
We’re dedicated to sharing the “Pure Goodness” message with the world. It goes beyond our fruit to how we conduct our business – respecting the land, our people, and our communities.
We’ve invested more than $200 million in sustainability research and innovations, clean energy, and the prudent utilization of natural resources. This includes $100 million in advanced irrigation technologies, $22 million in solar power installations, and $41 million in fuel cells, which generate 35% of our required electricity without combustion or air pollution. These are just a few of the groundbreaking technologies and solutions that encompass our environmental stewardship.
We have a long history of creating positive and lasting change in California’s Central Valley. From investing more than $15 million in the redevelopment of the town of Lost Hills, to providing jobs, affordable housing, small business loans, and supporting the philanthropic efforts of various local nonprofit programs, we are a true community partner.
Health and Wellness
We wanted to change the paradigm of health care in the Central Valley, so our Wellness Centers in Lost Hills and Delano offer free primary medical care and prescriptions to over 8,500 employees and family members. We promote employee health with on-site gyms, healthy cafes, a produce market, and daily Wellness education and support.
Investing in Education
We’ve reached more than 55,000 students across the Central Valley through scholarships, career pathways, our charter schools, teacher grants, summer schools, and the arts.
Solar Power Innovation
Up to 35% of the power for our Halos® packing facility comes from green energy generation. The plant’s roof is home to one of the country’s largest customer-owned rooftop solar plants. Together with 1.6-megawatt fuel cells that produce electricity from natural gas, these alternative technologies ease the burden on local suppliers, lower fuel use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Environmentally Aware Pest Control
We employ a number of eco-friendly insect control methods developed by our sister company, Suterra®. Using naturally occurring compounds, we’re able to target only harmful pests without affecting beneficial species.
We’ve invested millions of dollars to find better ways to irrigate our crops while conserving water. In addition to using highly efficient sprinklers and drip systems, we monitor and adjust water usage hour by hour based on real-time data.
