As we edge closer to warmer weather, we have pool parties and beach days on the brain! Our favorite way to embrace the changing seasons is with a seasonal craft that keeps little hands busy.
These fun sailboat Halos mandarins are the perfect treat for a summer or nautical-themed party, or to enjoy as an after school or classroom snack. Plus, they’re bright and easy as a summer afternoon. Don your deck shoes and climb aboard, matey.
What you need:
- Halos mandarins
- washi tape
Slice your Halos mandarins in half.
Wrap two pieces of washi tape around the top of a toothpick and then cut them into a triangle shape (see photo below) to make the sail. We liked the way our green color looked against the bright orange of the Halos mandarin, but blue, pink or yellow would look totally sweet as well! You can go crazy with a bright party theme, using the washi tape and mandarins as pops of color all throughout your décor.
Insert the sail into the top of the mandarin. You might consider snipping the sharp ends of the toothpicks off for small children, or even using swizzle straws instead.
There you have it! You are ready to sail away with a healthy, summer-inspired snack that makes for a tasty treat even when the weather’s still chilly outside. In fact, we like to think that Halos mandarins can help bring a little sunshine to the day, no matter the weather. Besides, you can’t sail without a little bit of blustery breeze.
These sweet treats would be especially perfect for an afternoon brunch. Or take those sports practices up a notch with a tray full of sailboats. Either way, it’s guaranteed to be fun – Halos Fun!
